[edit] History

Quinn's story is as ordinary as ordinary can be. He was born into the world of the nobility as the heir of House Bresa, in Dentoria, which is both a blessing and a curse for him. A blessing, because he was given a library he could bury himself in for hours and hours on end, as well as an opportunity to spend his days lost in dreams, which is something he is apt to do. A curse, because he was expected to rule as the eldest son, and everybody in Bresa, including Quinn, know without argument that he is definitely not ruler material. His family is quite supportive, however, and there was never a question of who is going to succeed the title of Lord of Bresa.

It's an old story, that of a heir being more useful for the 'useless' arts instead of his duties. Of course, Quinn isn't exactly like that. He takes his duty as heir of House Bresa seriously, and when he can, would study for the day he would take after his father's footsteps. He isn't particularly smart, but his tutors do approve of him for sheer diligence and his being earnest. And while he isn't particularly good at it nor even liked it, he did take up the lance and learned to be a somewhat decent at wielding it on foot. (Quinn has a rather unfortunate fear of heights that kept him off horses for the longest time, and he still fidgets enough on one that anything except simple riding is rather impossible) And while he's currently studying with his utmost ability for House Bresa, his attention does tend to wander.

Recently, he was invited to House Nallen, where he was to spend time with and begin courting Lady Caroline. He found himself in a bit of a triangle when Lady Philippa of Temair expressed interest in him, spurring a catfight between herself and Caroline. After several months of waffling and inadvertedly playing them for fools, he finally chose Philippa to be his wife.

[edit] Personality

Quinn is cheerful and quite loves being around people despite how awkward it makes him feel, and is glad for any company at all. He likes to go off on a tangent on about anything the conversation allows regardless of whether or not his partner is listening, talking extremely fast and especially so when he's excited. And because he's easily excited about most things, people usually just throw up their hands and resign themselves to fate when he starts talking. With his excitability, Quinn is also nearly perpetually nervous, especially in social situations, and would often be seen doing anything from stuttering, to panicking and spinning around, to flailing his arms wildly, to chewing his fingernails, to tripping over his own feet and dragging the nearby tablecloth and thus the table down with him. All of which are, really, just the tip of the iceberg.

When you get past that, however, Quinn really is just an sweet, optimistic boy who really just wants to share his love for books and everything else with everyone. He just have a lot of trouble doing it. Sometimes, however, he's able to sit down and produce artworks and writings that are just astounding, but perhaps in association with his awkwardness in expressing himself, he often have trouble applying his talents. His room is full of half-painted canvases and half-written notebooks as testament to this fact. He daydreams quite often and usually can be found lost in his own thoughts and his own little world, not really caring what goes on outside, and is sometimes rather unrealistic with his views of the world. He's not as smart as his bookish tendencies seem to suggest, however, which is something he accepts with pride. After all, you don't have to be smart to see the value of books.

He's also really good with the piano, and has been composing on and off. Of course, he's not about to let anyone hear what he made up anytime soon. Quinn is also something of a glutton with his mother's chocolate chip cookies recipe, often sneaking a jar of it into his bedroom as late night snack.

[edit] Relationships

  • Peter, his father, whose expectations he fears he will never meet.
  • Caitlin, his mother.
  • Deborah, his little sister, whom he's very close to.
  • Emmeline, a friend he enjoys discussing the arts with.
  • Felicia, a childhood accquaintance he once upset by spilling a vase on her dress. (she's totally over it, though).
  • Tyre, a sort-of friend.
  • Caroline, a friend whom he was expected to court and marry. He cares for her, but does not love her the way he wanted to.
  • Philippa, his betrothed.
  • Therese, Philippa's sister, whom he views as sort of a confidante.

[edit] Appearance

Looking a little bit younger than his seventeen years, Quinn has black hair that he keeps short, with similarly short sidelocks. He wears a large pair of glasses that keeps slipping off his nose, a long-sleeved jacket instead of a formal coat, and a pair of shoes that somehow look oversized. Sometimes, if one looks closely, one can see breadcrumbs and bits of chocolate chip cookies sticking to his sleeves.
