[edit] History
Pearl remembers being in the orphanage, in one of Hanalan's smaller towns, though doesn't remember anything of her life before the age of six. She remembers the loneliness mostly, as she had been teased by the children, though there were a few good adults to help her. Her favorite was an older woman who had been there for years; it was she who first told her that she should practice her dancing. It wasn't until she was ten that she even began to wonder about them: about the family that had lost her. Even her friends, her fellow orphans, had stories to tell of the parents that left them behind. She liked to pretend that she had a story too, sometimes, just so that she wouldn't be left out.
After her 12th birthday passed, Pearl left the orphanage to find her own path in the world. Unfortunately to do this, she needed money. After many failed attempts to find gainful employment--there weren't many things that she could do; being a mercenary was out, as she disliked handling weapons--after attempting to work in a few taverns and not being very happy with them in Hanalan, she finally boarded a boat for Kanemoria, thinking to find opportunity there.
She remained there for a couple of years, meeting Andrew at the inn she worked at the longest eventually; though once she neared the age of fifteen decided to leave, as she was older and less naive, and somewhat distressed by what some of the other women there had told her. She knew that if she stayed there longer, she would no longer have her purity; she could feel it being grubbed away by the stares, by the men, by the weight of change around her and inside of her. She hated it. Her young age had been what protected her at first, though as she blossomed into a young woman, that veil of innocence was quickly shattered.
She and Andrew traveled for a time, at first to Dentoria and then back to Kanemoria, for they were in need of gold; slowly she began to close herself off, internalizing everything, slowly hating her life, hating dancing, and worrying about what people thought of her. She never hesistated giving away what she had earned if she saw someone in more dire straits than themselves; after all, they could always make more, and what was the use of having gold if it wasn't going where it was needed? They had been in Northern Kanemoria for a time, when the Channels opened, and that was how they became introduced to Lord Kail and Sawyer, whom she eventually became close with.
After making plans to travel with them, an unexpected storm had sent Pearl overboard. She was presumed dead for a time and was found by Jordan and Aine, whom she traveled with for some time. She eventually obtained a new journal, which to her surprise still was linked to the old. They went to the Eblar, to wait for Kail's group to arrive, and that was when they met the trio of Fayre, Elden and Jasmine. Pearl attempted to change herself, then, trying to see if she could adapt to the lifestyles of her new friends, but it was a very difficult thing for her to do, at first.
She planned to travel with Aine, instead of rejoining Andrew, after worrying about whether or not that it was okay for the two of them to keep traveling together for so long, but the girl left in the middle of the night without a trace, leaving her only other option to return with the group, as she had become accustomed to them already anyway. The play was successful, and it opened the door to her realizing that there were other things to do, to experience, and learn.
Unfortunately, Pearl didn't get the opportunity to perform in what would have been her second big play, as when Andrew attempted to leave on his own to chase after Maeve her concern for him led her to follow after him, only for her to get savegly attacked by bandits. She was unconcious for some time, and very weak afterwards, though through time has overcome it, and seems to have gotten a little more comfortable with herself as a person. She isn't as bitter, and she wants nothing more than to help the group that she has grown fond of.
[edit] Personality
Pearl is reserved, and speaks rather softly. She is used to being around people, though does not enjoy it much; she either feels unworthy in the presence of nobles, or people who wouldn't see much beyond her low class, as she has experienced much in her youth; she doesn't trust men all that much either, althought she is used to their general leers in her direction, though she does not avoid contact with people completely.
She does feel the need to stand up for people who cannot stand up for themselves, though she cannot quite defend herself verbally if she is too flustered. She wants to become more than what she is, though she doesn't know exactly how to do that. Privately, she will obsess over it, though in public, puts on her performers face. She might seem bitter at times, though it is to be expected, though she is not quite as edgy as she used to be, and is slowly becoming more warm and less apathetic.

[edit] Appearance
Her frame is slender, and she's of medium height; perhaps five-foot five, at the most. Her hair is sunset-red, and is mostly straight, though curls at the ends to the middle of her back. Her eyes are a pale blue-grey color. Her dancing dresses are usually paler colors, form-fitting and sleeveless, though lately she has been trying to be more practical, unless Fayre enourages her to wear something more exotic. Regardless, she wears a cloak over them while traveling.
