Meatha

Meatha is one of the major cities of Atsiria, the seat of House Karnach.

Meatha has control of many mines from the mountains, very solid trade roots to Hanalan, and connections to most fishing and trade ports along the eastern coastline, as well as the most reliable and largest oasis and underground wells in Atsiria. As such its incredibly self sufficient, rich, and liberal. The plant life is beautiful there, producing many species indigenous only to the city, and creating a garden paradise for the city to dwell within. While not especially unique or artistic, the look of the city is very memorable due to the richness of the design and extravangance of the materials. Meatha also produces the most glass in Eire, and uses that as its cheif export, secondary to the many mines -- diamond, ruby, and emerald -- that it controls.

The proximity to Hanalan has made the cultural predjudice between the two lands very deep in Meatha, and most natives to the city hold utterly ridiculous beliefs about the people, wildlife, and customs of Hanalan, more than half believed. Despite many dealings with Hanalan, the people of Meatha generally refuse to step into the country when engaging in trade. The people of Hanalan often believe all Atsirians to be like Meathans because of this.

Meatha is also a very popular stop for nomads, who enjoy staying near the water, and seem to find the wealthy carnival atmosphere of the city enjoyable. While Cleraine is a more popular hub, nomads tend to stay longer in Meatha, and often build relationships with its people. As such Meathans hold a more realistic view of the nomads than the other cities of Atsiria.

The male role is much more equal in Meatha than in other Atsirian cities, though there is still a definite female bias.
