Lucre is the capital city of Megam, and the religious center of Eire. All serious politics of the country are conducted in Lucre, and it is the seat of the Guardians of the Altar, as well as the resting place for the Altar itself.

Lucre is commonly considered the most beautiful city in Eire, though there is some competition from Razen, the capital of Atsiria, and Cleraine, Atsiria's old capital. The many spires in Lucre are all topped with an intricate system of crystals, which refract light down onto the city, which makes rainbow light shine down on them, night and day, except for during double new moons and clouded nights. It's also full of many tropical gardens, cathedrals, manses, and other beautiful structures.

Despite being in the zone for Megam's destructive hurricane season, Lucre has never been seriously damaged by one. It's common belief in Megam that the Dragons protect the seat of their servants.
