[edit] Summary
The youngest child of House Lireth, Isanae presents herself as being charmingly clever and infalliably polite. Her true nature is hateful and condescending, and she hides dangerous cunning behind seemingly courteous remarks. At her heart, Isanae has a strong vulnerable streak that even she refuses to admit exists. She has recently been sent to Emeron at the behest of her brother, Hasten -- the reason given, to learn magic with the daughters of Emeron. But she is perfectly aware of the true reason ...

[edit] History
The youngest child of House Lireth, Isanae has lived her life beneath excruciating standards of perfection, a challenge she rose to and continues to meet with dazzling grace, as far as she is concerned. Often directed to the example of her eldest sister, Amaeyra, Isanae has pushed herself her entire life to meet the high standards set by her family -- particularly her father -- and for the most part, succeeded well enough to earn few rebukes -- in the Lireth family, the highest sort of "praise" one is likely to achieve.
She threw herself into her lessons from the start, meticulously studying history, numbers, literature, and language right alongside proper pursuits for a lady -- needlework, embroidery, and the like, excelling at all. It was somewhat deterring to learn of her lack of magical talent at a young age, as she was set to learn the staff exactly as her sisters had been before her, yet she recovered quickly -- as any proud Lady of Lireth should -- and set about swordplay instead, her head held high all the while. Her lack of magical ability is certainly not a sticking point for her; a proper Lady of Lireth would never fixate so on a weakness, after all. Certainly not.
Her swordwork, however, is quite perfect, as one would expect -- she knows all of the forms, all of the technique, and moves with a fluid style that is quite a sight to behold. She's aware of this, of course, but would never flaunt it; a proper Lady of Lireth would never flaunt! She could outrun and outdistance half the Knights in Lireth's company if she tried, but of course, a proper Lady of Lireth would never take part in such a base thing. She is as fond of fancy dress and courtly persuasions as she is of the sweat and sting and coarse raiment of physical training; both make her a better asset to her House, and thus she loves them equally and wholeheartedly. As any proper Lady of Lireth should.
In truth, she may have much yet to learn, but each lesson she has been given so far -- whether it be swordplay, sewing, or the intracacies and political implications of the Kanemorian War of Succession -- she has taken in and performed extraordinarily. As any proud Lady of Lireth should.
The disappearance of her elder sister Elthea may have thrown a slight kink her her perfect world -- a Lady of Lireth would never disgrace herself so, after all, what could she be thinking -- but she always has considered her sister terribly weak... perhaps, she thinks, it was only a matter of time. But never mind; Father will sort it out, of course. Weakness cannot be abided in a Lady of Lireth.
[edit] Personality
Isanae is soft spoken, demure, polite, smart as a whip, and every inch a proper noblewoman. She is also impossibly haughty, consdescending, somewhat bratty, and has a razor sharp wit famous for cutting while never leaving a mark. Everything she says is perfectly proper, and yet to the observant, often carries an undertone of her lesser advertised qualities.
She considers her father's treatment of her and her siblings a necessary thing; she yearns for praise, but has buried that yearning so far down she herself would deny it -- praise is unneccessary, the lack of a rebuke should always suffice -- and believe every word. She looks up to her elder siblings -- aside from Elthea, whom she shamelessly looks down upon, despite her facade of respect, for any proper lady should respect her elder sister -- but considers herself their equal if not superior, just the same. She is always respectful, particularly to those whom her station demands respect to; she puts on an air of kindness and generosity, but is hardly sincere, as her elder sister Amaeyra.
She has few close friends; a proper Lady of Lireth is self sufficient, and those she has, she distances.
She has no weaknesses, of course. She is, after all, a Proud Lady of Lireth.
[edit] Relationships
- Elmudd, father, whom she both respected and looked down upon in equal measure, before his death.
- Bunny, mother, from whom she has always desired praise and received nothing but cold, immeasurable distance.
- Hasten, eldest brother, whom she both fears and looks down upon in equal measure. She suspects his involvement in Lord Elmudd's death.
- Amaeyra, eldest sister, whom she both envies and looks down upon in equal measure.
- Fartgus, elder brother, whom she finds digusting, thick, and utterly impossible -- yet undoubtedly the sibling she tolerates best.
- Elthea, elder sister, whom she has always held nothing but contempt.
- Allison, retainer of her house, known to her to be Hasten's spy.
- Celeste, a close friend in the reality where Franel existed, and an object of interest and pity in the reality where it does not.
- Felicia, her closest friend and now sister-in-law.
- Deborah, a young girl who idolizes her in return for the promise of lessons and thinly veiled contempt.
[edit] Appearance
Though still a child by most standards, Isanae is quite pretty, and proud of the fact. Perfect locks nearly blonde enough to be white -- or silver, as she prefers -- frame a childish, if always proud face. Her pale violet eyes are bright, ruthlessly intelligent, and famously adept at mocking their object of attention, despite the sincere words she speaks in her proper, soft spoken tone. Her build is slight, but her single minded training with the sword -- who needs magic? -- has left her surprisingly strong, despite her appearance.
[edit] Other
Isanae's journal is ivoryandglass. She is played by Elzie and is PB'd by Sakuya from Sister Princess.
