[edit] The Beginning

In the beginning, on one fateful morning, six people woke and found themselves far from home. Faith, a knight sworn to Dentorian House Franel, awoke in Atsiria, in a room she did not remember paying for.[1] Her liege's heir, Lawrence, awoke a few hundred miles away, near Ilserna, in a camp he never made. His younger sister, Celeste, found herself in Forshen, a small village in the mountains of Korin.[2] Another knight of Franel, Keagan, was in a village some distance away.[3] Sawyer, a third knight, and best friend of Lawrence and Celeste's brother, Kail, woke in Kanemoria. Kail himself woke in the village of Mileia closeby, where the villagers say he had lived for some time. All of them awoke with journals that could communicate with others who had similar journals, bound by an unknown magic.

And strangest of all, not one person the six had written to in their journals had ever heard of Franel, their home.

Meanwhile, a new chapter in the War of Secrets had also begun.

[edit] Kail's Journey

Kail and Sawyer agreed to meet in Mileia. On the way, a generous Sawyer suggested that Pearl, a dancer from Hanalan, and Andrew, a bard from Megam, travel with them for protection. While waiting for the two to arrive in Mileia, Kail and Sawyer heard news that the rivers bordering Dentoria and Kanemoria had flooded. Alys, a merchant ship captain, in an effort to do what she can to have strangers stop writing in her journal, offered the group passage on her ship, if they could arrive to the port city of Colndor in time.

While staying at an inn overnight during the journey south, Kail had a nightmare had a nightmare, reliving his deepest fears, and woke to find the words "YOU DO NOT EXIST" scratched on a wall. While the nightmare, shared by Celeste and Lawrence, dampened Sawyer's spirits, it only served to strengthen Kail's resolve to discover the reason behind the seeming disappearance of their home, and everyone's memory of their existence.

On reaching Honlihiem, Kail decided that a few drinks were in order, much to Sawyer's and Celeste's trepidation. Sawyer did relent to a glass, leading to him becoming inebriated. Throughly embarrassed by his behaviour, Sawyer apologised the morning after. However, he admitted to Celeste that his drunken declaration of love for Kail was the truth.

The group managed to reach Colndor in time to catch Alys and board her ship, the Stormbringer, for passage to the southern Dentorian port of Aeda. Some time after leaving Colndor, two stowaways calling themselves Cass and Alex were found inside an apple crate in the Stormbringer's cargo. Alys allowed the two to stay on board the ship, but not without making themselves useful. A few days later, Sawyer dreamt that Kail was being tortured, as did his fellow retainers, and vowed to never let such a thing happen.
