Fiyero is the oldest of five sons born to rather unusual lady in a remote area of Northern Kanemoria. The five brothers are all half-siblings, their fathers being men whom their mother took as lovers in hopes of becoming pregnant. After this was achieved, the men were given the boot.
All their lives, Fiyero and his brothers lived to essentially serve and worship their mother. Anything she demanded, anything at all, they sought to fulfill to their utmost ability. Nothing was too great for their mother.
With five growing boys in the same household, money was often quite tight. However, the boys’ mother had plan: she had all her sons train in the use of the axe, and then sent them out to be highwaymen. Over the years, the boys gained quite a reputation, not just for their skill but for their incredible teamwork, as they fought together almost perfectly.
During an attack on a travelling caravan, Fiyero found and stole a diary. He made sure to hide it from his brothers and even his mother. He planned to use it to practice writing, something he dreamed of being able to do. However he soon discovered that the journal was magical and through it he was able to not only write but also read what others said. He also had his first contact with anyone outside his family and, while cautious at first, soon became decently comfortable with talking to them. He also continued to work on gaining literacy, finding a copy of Jane of Eire that he could attempt to read.
A bandit's life is quite dangerous and Fiyero's was no exception. He was injuryed in a fray and, because of this injury, his younger brother Franz was put in charge of the next mission. However, Franz soon failed and Fiyero reclaimed his spot as leader.
Not too long after this, his mother decided that it was time for her to go into town. Fiyero and his brothers knew that this could only mean one thing: she was looking for a new lover. And she found one, whom she brought back with her. Fiyero instantly took a disliking to this man and wished that he would leave them alone.

For most people, the five brothers seem fairly indistinguishable from each other, a mass of testosterone under the thumb of their domineering mother. However, they really do have distinctive personalities, once they get to know them.
As the oldest, Fiyero feels especially tied to his mother, as for a few years it was only them (the second oldest brother is 20). He greatly treasures the rare private moments he gets with her, and those moments when he can be away from all his brothers. While he doesn’t mind his brothers, he often would prefer to have more time in private, not being an overly social person. His desire for a sense of privacy is what motivates him taking a journal from a group of travellers way-sided by him and his brothers.
However, he does have some curiosity about world outside which he has never seen, especially to see other women, who both fascinate and terrify him.

Fiyero is rather tall and has a muscular build, from years of training and fighting with an axe. He has medium length blond hair and amber eyes. When out on a mission, he wears durable, dark coloured clothing, made by his mother; at home, he and his brothers wear much finer things that they have acquired from travellers, which have been altered to fit them. Fiyero's body bears numerous scars from his battles.
