[edit] Summary

Elliot is a high ranking teacher in the church of the Dragons, in The City of Light. After leaving Lucre without permission to do research on the War of Secrets, he turned himself in to foil the plans of Gilbert, and spent a year in penance at the behest of Sister Freya. He's now unsure of what to do with himself, though it, for the moment, includes the instruction of the willful Sister Maire.

[edit] History

Born in Lucre, Megam's famed capital city, it was always Elliot's destiny to join the prestigious ranks of the clergy, as much of his family had done before him. Always an absent-minded child, it was feared that he'd have no mind for the discipline required of a successful clergyman -- fears that were largely unfounded, as it turned out, as he showed signs of a strong affinity for light magic from an early age.

Encouraged, his family gladly turned Elliot over to the church, where he flourished, despite the fact that he never quite grew out of the absent mindedness of his youth. In fact, age simply seemed to compound the matter; while he was always brilliant in his bookwork and scholastic pursuits, practical matters baffled him, his memory slipped on the simplest of things, and his overall way of carrying himself was considered increasingly strange by his colleagues and superiors alike. Still, none could deny his natural talent, and Elliot found himself well on his way to fame and prestige through the clergy.

Unfortunately, he also discovered, as time went on, that he really didn't like those things all that much. He much preferred simple pleasures -- singing badly at the top of his lungs, filling himself with good food until he was fit to burst, sweets, cakes, pastries and candies -- the sorts of things everyone had shrugged off in his youth as merely a consequence of young age he's surely grow out of in time.

So it was that Elliot chose the path of teacher; he had no stomach for the politics and petty games of his betters, and found he rather enjoyed instructing the youths he was always considered too much akin to in the first place. Yet his skill was widely known, by then, a fact that tended to cause him no end of grief, particularly when it came time to choose a new Guardians of the Altar of Light at Lucre.

There seemed to be no way for him to escape that fate were he to remain he was, and so it was that at the age of twenty-two, Elliot set off in the face of countless rules, regulations, and policies, against the advice of his friends and blantantly against the orders of his superiors, leaving his homeland and everything he'd worked so hard to build behind, swearing to himself that he'd never return.

The longer he was away, though, the less he began to mind his decision; he found the life of a traveler suited him just fine, soon enough. He could peruse libraries across the continent to further his studies, see sights he'd never thought to see, and aid the needy in ways he was sure he never could have had he stayed in Megam his entire life, wasting away on the High Council, crushed by a responsibility he never wanted in the first place.

[edit] Personality

Elliot is extremely cheerful, outgoing, sympathetic, and above all else, clumsy. He never did grow out of being hopelessly absent minded, and while he loves to help people, it can be said that in the process of helping, he tends to make a mess, as well. Usually by breaking something. Still, he's a sweet man, tries to be a perfect gentleman, and has a tendency of accidentally sweeping women off their feet (he's really never even considered settling down, himself, you see.)

He still loves the simpler pleasures of life; when he's not feeling particularly scholastic, he can be found carousing in restaurants and ale houses, singing badly loudly with whoever might care to join or listen, dancing with the common folk around the tables, and generally being the exact opposite of what one might expect from a proper clergyman. He loves sweets, to an absurd degree, and what's more is that while he can hold his ale just fine, thank you, sugar has an alarming affect on him, to say the least. He spends gold about as fast as he can make it; saving is a foreign concept to him.

While Elliot is extremely intelligent and good with light magic, he has a tendency to forget his chants, lose track of where he is, which direction he's headed in, where he was going in the first place, the name of places he's been to, the name of the place he is, the names of people he's met, where he put that blasted Rizziah Tome -- you get the idea. he is also extremely lucky, a fact that has probably gotten him through more than one unfortunate situation despite his general nature.

Elliot isn't without his serious side, however -- when the situation calls for it, he can revert to a surprisingly focused state, and all of the nuances of his noble upbringing become quite apparent.

[edit] Relationships

  • Felicia, a friend who once fancied him. Their relationship is somewhat awkward, now that she is married.
  • Forbes, a long time friend and confidant.
  • Gilbert, an... acquaintance he helped excommunicate after he pushed him to throw aside his reservations concerning returning home.
  • Freya, his superior and in charge of his penances following his return in disgrace to Megam.
  • Eron, another of his superiors whom he often finds himself taking orders from.
  • Maire, his student, stubborn and disagreeable. He does his best.
  • Elthea, a broken girl he once befriended, though no one could truly save her in the end. Believes her dead, though in actuality she faked her own suicide.

[edit] Appearance

Though he insists he's no one special, no one can deny that Elliot gives off the appearance of a well established nobleman. He dresses nicely, usually in typical vestments of the clergy, or at least in the finer clothes of the Megam nobility. He prefers to dress in light colors, particularly white. He has long blonde hair, which he keeps scrupulously maintained and pulled behind him in a ponytail (or braid, if he's feeling pretty.) The look makes him appear rather feminine, but he hardly seems to care. He has pale skin that burns easily, but never tans, and stands at 5'9".

[edit] Other

Elliot's journal is ratherforgetful. He is played by Elzie and PB'd by Rowen from Erementar Gerad.
