Casey was born in a small town near the Kanemoria-Atsiria border, the daughter of a Kanemorian jewel merchant and an Atsirian horse breeder, the product of an illicit engagement and hasty elopement. Her mother, all but disowned by her family for her choice in marriage -- with the exception of her twin sister, Casey's aunt Milaena -- readjusted herself to a life of travel and trade, caring for their growing caravan's horses and no small number of business matters. Her father, a shrewd businessman with a love of travel and Atsirian wine (and women), adjusted himself to married life and the role of a father, taking his family from city to city trading in first jewelry, then pottery, then fine clothing and artifacts of all kinds as his business and wealth grew steadily over the years.
As such, Casey spent most of her childhood traveling, primarily between Kanemoria and Atsiria, learning a culture where women rule and life is measured in water and horses alongside a culture where wits are your livelihood and a quick tongue is just as handy as a quick blade. Her mother taught her pride, her father taught her business, and from both she gleaned a love of travel, horses, weaponry, wine, and above all else, gold.
The years went by, and it eventually became apparent -- or at least more than likely -- that Casey would be her parents' only child; as such (and with no small pressuring from her mother,) her father adopted her as his "son," accepting her as his heir apparent; she now serves as his second in command, accompanying him wherever he goes, determined to not only carry on their family business successfully, but to make it greater than it ever has been. Her mother, on the other hand, though proud of Casey's accomplishments and resolve, finds her apparent lack of interest in romance suspect, and has made it her mission to find her daughter a husband.

Casey is a raging tomboy and her father's daughter through and through; growing up, they were inseperable, and though her father often put on a gruff demeanor, the extent to which he doted on his daughter has always been widely known among their acquiantances. She's more than a little spoiled and very stubborn, to the point of being snobby, at times. She's relentlessly persistent, materialistic, and measures everyone's worth by the gold to their name. She quite resents her mother's recent impositions on her love life -- or rather, lack thereof -- having no serious romantic interest at all in men or marriage in general.
