One of the three shadowy figures of whom little is known. Like his sister Maeryn, he shifts between two personalities, one frantic and young-sounding, and the other confident and languid. He seems to disagree with the harsh relationship between Maeryn and Mackenzie. He, Maeryn, and Mackenzie seem to be watching the events of the plot, and have some sort of interest vested in them.

Those who believe the "plotty threesome" as they are occassionally referred to parralel the Franel siblings often compare Caeln to Kail.
